53 hours journey to Tokyo – entry #1 Vienna Budapest
Struggled out of bed. Made some breakfast. Checked baggage again and also email and Facebook. No news from Oschi. Totally forgot to ask for her contact. Hoped to find her at Budapest bus station. Chanted and prayed for smooth and safe journeys.
0630 – left my flat. The ubahn was surprisingly crowded.
0645 Arrived at Erdberg bus station. The boarding had already began as I arrived. Ticket to Budapest costed 19 euro single. The bus was full. Tourists and native queued to get on it. I settled next to an old lady, sat down and quietly tried to sleep.
The bus was noisy. I pressed my eyes hard to push myself into my subconsciousness. Managed a short one hour nap. Woke up and we were already in Hungary. Couldn’t tell the different from the motorway. Motorways look similar where ever in the world. Grey asphalt. White line. Barrier. Cars. And odd clues about the location maybe drawn from the signs and from which side of the road one drive. And perhaps the road quality. But that about it. It is perhaps one of a few things humankind has a unified agreement on and successfully standardised.
