It is a crazy thing
What happen if a commitment-phobia man meet a marriage-without-love-can-happen woman?
A Crazy Thing! (or Marriage Is A Crazy Thing! (2002))
Another Korean film that left me wonder what happen to the 2hr of my life (the movie is 106min but included all the waiting and loading on youtube!) . The execution of the movie is good, the acting was ok. The real let down though, was the plot. In my opinion, the director/author probably wanted to ‘show’ and attempted to ‘answer’:
- Can a bachelor man has love without marriage?
- What would happen if a woman marriage without love?
I think the movie failed to answer or show both questions/scenarios. It ended up toying and punishing the characters. Having said that though, it does show an obvious but often ignore fact that marriage isn’t happiness, and that love needs commitment and commitment needs love. The movie however, got rescued by Jeong-hwa Eom‘s attractive femininity, and her acting! (and she did win an award for it, well deserved I’d say)
Rating: 2/5 (1 without Jeon-haw Eom)
End note – Personal thought: I believe – as a novice in life and relationship - marriage begin with love, continue with understanding, sustain with patient and nourish by compassion. When it should end? Hopefully Till Death, Do Us Part.
